Exclusive in-depth interview with Pusha T. In part 1 Pusha talks to Nick Huff Barili about a range of subjects including The Clipse and his brother No Malice, Kanye West, Pharrell and much more. The interview starts with Pusha sharing his first Hip Hop memory which was receiving a UTFO album from his sister who worked in a record store. Pusha states that his brother No Malice made him want to rap and that he didn’t intend to rap until he randomly wrote a verse while No Malice was in the studio working with Pharrell and Chad Hugo. No Malice had already worked with fellow Virgina resident Timbaland but when Timbo went to work with Jodeci, Pusha introduced No Malice to Pharrell who he was friends with. “That’s how The Clipse was born” says Pusha. Over a decade after The Clipse put out their debut album “Lord Willin’” Pusha talks about what was different working on his debut solo album “My Name is My Name.” Though his solo album has been in the works for a few years, Pusha states that at no time was he worried that his album was not going to come out through Good Music. The reason why his solo album took a while to develop is because Pusha felt that when he first started making music as a solo artists fans weren’t feeling his raps the way he wanted. He realized that he had to further develop his style to make up for the fact
