Black Milk Talks “If There’s A Hell Below”, Working With Bun B And Pete Rock [Video]

For the past decade, Black Milk has been making exciting, genre-bending hip-hop records. The Detroit native got his start as a producer, but took up rapping in the early 2000s and has never looked back. Less than a month after putting out his latest full length, If There’s A Hell Below, he stopped by the HNHH offices to chat about his creative process, influences and recent collaborations with a wide variety of artists. Having paired up with fellow Detroit resident Danny Brown for the Black & Brown EP in 2011, Black Milk said he was fairly certain that he’d have a beat on Brown’s upcoming fourth album, and hopes to continue working with the left-field MC in the future. Black Milk went on to describe how Pete Rock and Bun B wound up on his album, saying he had known both of them before nabbing them for this project. He described the recording session, speaking of White’s computer-less studio in awe. As such a versatile artist, Black Milk seems like he’ll always keep us guessing about his next move, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
