OG Maco Talks Black Exploitation; Calls Out Iggy And Macklemore [Video]

OG Maco is one of many who feel that the exploitation of Black culture has gone way too far. Though he respects artists like Eminem and Gwen Stefani because they “get it” and stay true to themselves, when it comes to rappers Iggy Azalea and Macklemore, he’s displeased that they’re even brought up in the conversation. “We gon’ act like they[‘re] good rappers, or do you want me to tell the truth?” Maco asks. Maco goes on to say that White and Asian cultures have shunned Black culture for years, but now Iggy “somehow, magically” had a No. 1 album and Miley Cyrus got a tour off of emulating things that Black people have already been doing, like twerking. He even calls out Kylie Jenner, who recently admitted to plumping her lips. “You know why she want these big a** lips,” OG Maco states. He doesn’t even share any bad blood with Korean rapper Keith Ape who bit off his track “U Guessed It” for his own song entitled “It G Ma,” which has been well received worldwide. “He has a whole career based off a knockoff of my song. It happens, I guess,” says Maco, who dismisses it because he feels that the song was made more so as “an ode to OG Maco” due to Keith’s respect for the Atlanta native. Watch above to hear more.

Erick Sermon On Ice Cube Revealing To Him He Was Leaving N.W.A. [Video]

The Green-Eyed Bandit Erick Sermon heightened his impact on Hip-Hop as one half of the legendary group EPMD, and recently the Long Island native stopped by VladTV to discuss how EPMD’s early success impacted his life as an MC and as a man, people mistaking the group’s sound for being from California, and how Ice Cube first told EPMD that he planned to leave N.W.A. When commenting about the group’s debut ‘Strictly Business’ earning a spot on the Billboard 200, Erick explains, “It was a phenomenon…If my group didn’t break up, there’s no telling where we would have been, ’cause we was out of control.” While traveling down memory lane, he refers to other artists like Das EFX, Redman, and K-Solo, who themselves earned acclaim from the lane that EPMD helped to pave. The “Symphony” spitter then says, “I remember one time that I looked at the Billboard and it had all four of us on the charts at the same time,” adding, “That was something unbelievable at the time.” As the convo then covers other accomplishments, Erick talks about how the funky sound of EPMD led some listeners to believe that the Brentwood, Long Island residents were actually from Brentwood, California. Soon, the discussion turns to another iconic Hip-Hop group, N.W.A., and Sermon reveals that while Ice Cube was on tour with EPMD, the “Straight Outta Compton” MC told them of his plans to leave N.W.A.
