Read moreProducer Illmind, who was joined by Joell Ortiz, spoke to VladTV exclusively about the process of producing “You & The 6” off of Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late album. The Brooklyn-based producer said that he worked on the track with Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib, and Drake was drawn to their beat. When asked about the project being a surprise drop, Illmind admitted that no one knew Drake was going to release it without any promotion. He explained that he woke up one day and found out that his track made the cut on the surprise album, and Illmind just rolled with it. During the conversation Illmind also spoke about being featured in a beat showcase with Kanye West in the early 2000s, which you can hear more about in the above clip.
