He explained to us that he believes his longevity is due in part to him never stopping to “commemorate or commiserate” anything along the way, and Killer Mike added that he’s also always tried to outdo himself every year. Moving along, the “Ric Flair” rapper explained how his group with El-P, Run the Jewels, came about, and how he knew that El-P was supposed to produce for him the first time they met in the studio. Killer Mike also spoke about why they decided to put their music out for free, as he stated, “Why pretend like this is the f***ing Puffy era? Like you’re going to sell a million [records] and shine on n****s.
