Skyzoo – Beats 1 Radio Freestyle [Audio x Download]

“A few months ago, I did a freestyle for the God Dr. Dre’s Pharmacy show on Beats 1 radio, which was played on the show and rang off online upon it airing. That being said, I decided to formally release it on the ‘net for you all, being that it’s one of my favorite freestyles (which by the way was completely off the top, no writtens or lines from the tuck), with some of my favorite bar work, over one of my favorite beats. Enjoy, and do remember, tomorrow, Saturday May 14th is the “Power of Words” writing workshop in Brooklyn NY. Log on to www.blapkits.com for info on how to get tickets, exact location and how to get involved.” – Skyzoo

Eff Yoo – Alpha Mega [Animated Video]

Posted up on the corner in his native Queens, slick-talkin’ rapper Eff Yoo is an animated lyrical pimp dishing out clever wordplay and bravado in his new video for “Alpha Mega.” It’s the third set of visuals off his recently released sophomore project, ‘The Eff Word,’ and his third portrayal of a specific character. In “The Eff Word,” he was a local tour guide for anyone who hasn’t visited his hometown, while “God Hates Me” found him playing out the life of a vengeful priest. And for “Alpha Mega,” he dons a mink coat and red fedora to look fly as he spits his verses over the smooth, sample-flipping instrumental from Rediculus. It’s not just his outfit that stands out, though, as Yoo’s bars are complemented by the work of artist, Edgar Zavala. So as the Queens rapper says he should get enshrined in granite sculptures when he dies, or that he’s sharper than a jagged spear, you see those images in their animated glory. “Alpha Mega” stems from Eff Yoo’s ‘The Eff Word’ LP, which is produced entirely by Rediculus. The eleven track effort is now available on compact disc, and can be downloaded through all major digital retailers, courtesy of Platformz Music.

Dizzee Rascal: “I Believe Ali G Character Was Based Off Tim Westwood” [Video]

Dizzee Rascal has focused on using his UK accent in his music, despite some overseas rappers adopting an American accent in their songs. The “Bassline Junkie” rapper explained that while he respects and looks up to a lot of American artists, he also looked up to artists that were from his area in London, leading him to focus on his UK accent. During the conversation Dizzee was asked about his thoughts on Iggy Azalea rapping in a southern American accent, which he said makes sense considering that Iggy spent a lot of time around T.I. during the start of her career. He also touched on famed radio host Tim Westwood adopting mannerisms from Funkmaster Flex. You can hear more of what Dizzee had to say, including how he believes Sacha Baron Cohen’s Ali G character was based on Tim Westwood, in the above clip.
