Read moreG Herbo spoke exclusively to VladTV about changing his name from “Lil Herb,” which the Chicago spitter told us was a part of the process of his transition into adulthood. The “I’m Rollin” rapper also explained that he has always been known as Lil Herb outside of rap since he and his father have the same name. Speaking more about his family, G Herbo touched on how growing up in a two parent household helped give him structure and balance. On the flip side, the rapper was also asked if he thought it was possible for single moms to teach boys how to be men, which he completely agreed with. G Herbo stated that he believes men can teach girls how to be women, as he believes that most women who respect themselves have learned it from being around male family members. To hear more of G Herbo’s views on family dynamics and much more, hit the above clip.

Read moreBefore G Herbo and Lil Bibby were two of the most popular rappers in Chicago, they were homies. They grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, and played sports together. G Herbo sat down with HNHH to detail the history of his relationship with Bibby, who is a year older. Bibby was rapping first, and Herb got his start by trading raps with Bibby via brief cell phone video clips and recording memos. It was only a matter of time before they hit the studio together… Herb says that him and Bibby still get along great because they communicate well musically and in life. “We’re gonna always work together, no matter what situation we’re in. We’re working on some group shit too.”

Read moreG Herbo may have just dropped off his anticipated mixtape, Ballin Like I’m Kobe, but he keeps some otha shit on deck. When he visited New York the other week for a little press run, which included a freestyle session for Sway In The Morning, Herbo also blessed the HNHH Studios. Herb smoked out the studio while spitting bars over menacing production from J Brown, of the iStandard Producers collective. The rapper continues to build buzz since inking a deal with Cinematic, creating his own path, separate from that of Lil Bibby (whom he’s more often than not, linked with and compared to).
Read moreThe truth of the youth. Experience is a great teacher and wisdom doesn’t always have to come at an old age. It really all depends on how you deal with and handle certain situations or learn from the ones you’re put in. G Herbo is a great example of that and shows exactly why Chicago has another artist on its hands with serious staying power. He recently stopped by Sway in the Morning to talk about his project ‘Ballin Like I’m Kobe’ but it turned into something bigger than music. As the upcoming Spike Lee film ‘Chiraq’ is set to hit theaters soon, the topic had to be brought up regarding the Windy City youth and how things are moving out there. Nobody can tell that story better than artists like G Herbo who went through it, been in it and expanded beyond it in such a way that he not only inspires them to think different but also putting it in a relatable way through music. Definitely an enjoyable interview that teaches and hopefully that youth center will be created. Don’t forget to grab his latest project ‘Ballin Like Kobe’ as well.
Read moreG Herbo talks his new situation with NYC label Cinematic and future collabs with labelmate Joey Bada$$. Hot off his album-quality mixtape, Ballin Like I’m Kobe, G Herbo came through HNHH to give us an update on his new label situation as well as more projects he’s got coming in the near future. BLIK is the first project Herbo has dropped since changing his name from Lil Herb, and it’s his first release since signing with Cinematic Music Group. The 20-year-old Chicago rapper says he’s been going by G Herbo for awhile now — the name was given to him by his homies, with the “G” standing for “General” — a signifier of how he moves as an artist. The official name change represents his “maturing from a boy to a man.” Before signing, Cinematic CEO Johnny Shipes took an interest in Herbo and eventually got on board with his management team. After building a relationship, Herbo thought signing to the label, joining a roster of Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, Mick Jenkins, and more, was the right thing to do for his music. And so far, so good, as proven by BLIK. Herbo ends the interview by speaking on his new Metro Boomin-produced track with Joey Bada$$, “Lord Knows,” and how it’s the first of many collabs to come from the new labelmates. They’ve already got a couple more songs ready for release.

We bring our different styles together and create good music.”
