Saga & Thelonious Martin – Where We Live (Brooklyn) [Video]

With their well received collaborative LP ‘Molotov‘ now available, the East Coast/Midwest tag-team of Saga and Thelonious Martin head to the rapper’s stomping grounds of Brooklyn for album’s debut video, “Where We Live (Brooklyn).” Directed by Surf School’s Infamous Oz, the visuals put the heart of the BK on full display as the rapper-producer video hit up some of their favorite spots. That includes getting a lil’ grimy with the local cats at the legendary Gleason’s Gym and, of course, diggin’ in the crates at Black Gold Records. Watching these two hit up Brooklyn landmarks together and just kick it, further proves their chemistry, which is on full display throughout the LP. Of course, anyone can hear that chemistry on “Where We Live (Brooklyn),” which boasts Saga doing what he does best (rap with a purpose) over Martin’s ill flip of Ethel Beatty’s classic, “It’s Your Love.” ‘Molotov’ which boasts features from Freddie Gibbs, Fashawn, and Rapper Big Pooh among others, is now available for stream and download through all major digital retailers via Saga 718/EMPIRE. The record is also available on wax, in a limited edition smoke vinyl configuration, through Coalmine Records.

Saga & Thelonious Martin feat. Freddie Gibbs – Karma [Audio]

The Brooklyn-meets-Chicago duo of Saga & Thelonious Martin keeps the fire coming with “Karma”, a straight-up banger that serves as the final leak off their forthcoming album, “Molotov“. Backed by Martin’s vocal sample-flipping instrumental, Saga sounds as motivated as ever to prove his detractors wrong. When he raps, “You can brush me off, but I’m-a put my brush on the canvas,” he’s not gritting his teeth or sounding bitter. Rather, it’s almost as if you can hear him beating his chest, proud of his work so far and ready to continue showcasing his talents (which obviously run pretty deep). And like the project’s debut leak, “Yesterday” (feat. Fashawn), “Karma” also boasts a standout guest verse from Freddie Gibbs who shows up to spit a snarling verse. Gibbs addresses the legal issues he faced in Europe last year, which he ultimately triumphed over (as he says, “Sour lemon life, I smashed the f-cking lemonade”). “Karma” can now be streamed through all major streaming outlets, and is available for download as the third and final instant grat track off the iTunes pre-order for “Molotov”, which drops next Friday (2/17) through all major digital retailers via Saga 718/EMPIRE. The album will be released on vinyl early 2nd quarter through Coalmine Records, just in time for the duo’s European tour.

Saga & Thelonious Martin feat. Fashawn – Yesterday [Audio]

With their highly anticipated collaborative album coming soon, Saga & Thelonious Martin drop their gripping and lyrically rich lead single, “Yesterday,” featuring a compelling guest verse from Fashawn. The track truly exemplifies why so many heads are eager to hear the duo’s album, “Molotov”. Musically, you have Martin showcasing his production wizardry by combining slapping percussion with a crazy sample flip. It’s really yet another example of why the Chicago producer is one of the best doing it right now. And the same goes for Saga, the Brooklyn-based rapper whose career continues to blossom. With that in mind, there’s extra potency to his rhymes on “Yesterday,” a track that dives deep into growth—both as an artist and as a man. Whereas Saga digs into the former with his book-ending verses, Fashawn passionately raps about being a young father who finds truth and power in his role as a parent. It makes for a truly engaging listen, and one that’ll leave you wishing Molotov was dropping tomorrow. “Yesterday” can now be streamed through all major streaming outlets, and is available for download as the first instant grat track off the iTunes pre-order for “Molotov”, which drops February 17 through all major digital retailers via Saga 718/EMPIRE. The album will be released on vinyl early 2nd quarter through Coalmine Records, just in time for the duo’s European tour.

Saga x Thelonious Martin – Infomercial Freestyle [Audio]

Acclaimed artists in their own rights, Brooklyn rapper Saga and Chicago producer Thelonious Martin are proud to announce, “Molotov”, their collaborative LP that’s set to kick off 2017 with reckless abandon. The album includes guest features from Freddie Gibbs, Fashawn, and Rapper Big Pooh, all of whom will sound right at home rapping alongside Saga, over Martin’s neck-snapping, soulful instrumentals. Before delivering the project’s lead single, the two have shared a teaser joint called “Infomercial (Freestyle)”. The track features the BK-spitter doing his thing over one of the crazier joints off Martin’s exceptional 2016 release, “Late Night Programming”. Given that the beat is a straight-up slapper, it’s only fitting that Saga complements it with equally nutty bars like: “So I’m layin’ in this pool and I’m waitin’ for my death/ And anyone who steps, is drownin’ in his depths/ Sacrificin’ like an aztec, knife to the heart/ The whole team, they bouncin’ like a bad check.” For those who have somehow been sleeping on either of these cats, take this as your cue to get familiar. And then go and listen to their previous work, like Saga’s debut, “From Out of the Shadows” (produced by Marco Polo), and Martin’s seemingly endless supply of top-tier beats and collaborations with everyone from Chance The Rapper, Mac Miller, Joey Bada$$ and Action Bronson. Hit play on Saga’s “Infomercial” freestyle, and stay tuned for the official debut album leak. ‘Molotov’ is set to drop Feb. 10, 2017, and will be available through major digital

Saga – Pretty Thing [Audio x Download]

Saga’s impressive creative streak can’t (and won’t) be stopped this year, as he follows up the chest-thumping “The Warrior” with a smooth and funky pimpin’ anthem in “Pretty Thing.” The rising emcee teamed up with fellow Brooklynite and up-and-coming producer Agassi for this track, which deviates from the pure banger of “The Warrior” for something a little more lowkey and perfect for the warmer weather. From the jazzy, melodic keys of the instrumental to Saga’s sweet-talkin’ rhymes—particularly the story he kicks on the third verse—“Pretty Thing” glides by with an unabashed cool. It’s the type of joint you’ll want to queue up for lazy weekend afternoons, when you’re begging for a swift breeze to cut through the hellish heat. And just like the other tracks he’s been releasing so far this year, “Pretty Thing” is a loosie that won’t appear on any upcoming project. That being said, he is working on something new, but just consider these songs an appetizer for what’s to come later this year. “Pretty Thing” is available for free download, and it can be streamed via SoundCloud, AudioMack, Spotify, and Tidal.

Saga – The Warrior [Audio]

To say the least, Saga has had one hell of a 2016 so far. In addition to dropping a series of killer and stylistically fresh joints (“If We,” “What You Want,” and “Up”), the Brooklyn rapper just got back from a 17-city tour of Europe where he opened for Asher Roth. Saga was also working on and debuting new material, like his latest banger “The Warrior,” that had the crowd going crazy everywhere he went. You can blame the hook of “The Warrior” for that, as it’s inherently made for live stages and audience interaction. Sure enough, the EU crowds were chanting the chorus right alongside Saga, who pays homage (and compares himself to) to mental and physical warriors throughout the track. From calling himself “a modern-day Shogun” who’s a “strategist like Sun Tzu” to shouting out the likes of Tesla and da Vinci, the Bk emcee covers all the bases while demonstrating that he’s easily one of the year’s finest rising talents. It only helps that dude has a great ear for beats, with this slapper produced by London’s Quincey Tones. “The Warrior” is available for streaming now and is not affiliated with any forthcoming projects or releases from Saga.
