The Outlawz Tell Exclusive Stories About Tupac, React To Funk Flex & Treach + Perform Live [Video]

Jersey rap collective The Outlawz stopped by the studio to talk about new music, running with Tupac in the 90’s and more. E.D.I. Mean and Young Noble reminisce about their first encounter with Pac as well as break down how the group came to be and the meaning behind their name. “After we did ‘Outlawz,’ Pac was really pleased with what we did on that record and he was like, ‘We’re Outlaw Immortalz . . . because the sh** we’re doing is gonna live forever.’” With Shakur at the helm, Outlawz consisted of seven members including Pac’s stepbrother Komani, Yaki Khadafi, Kastro, Big Syke, Hussein Fatal, E.D.I. Mean, and Young Noble. Today, only E.D.I. Mean and Young Noble remain and they tell us why. Noble speaks out on DJ Funkmaster Flex’s recent allegations that the West coast legend shot himself at Quad Studios in 1994.

Krayzie Bone feat. Young Noble (of The Outlawz) – Rolling Stone [Audio]

A decade in the making, Krayzie Bone and Young Noble’s “Thug Brothers 2” is the follow up to the highly-successful collaboration project from two of hip hop’s legendary groups; Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Outlawz. The first Thug Brothers album was a collaborative effort by Layzie Bone and Young Noble, but for the sequel, Krayzie Bone picks up where Layzie Bone left off. There is an undeniable artistic chemistry between these two hip hop legends as they both detail their respective parallel journeys through hip hop’s evolution and history. Stories of tragedy, struggle, and loss are painted with incredibly descriptive lyrics and emotion, while giving the fans redemption, triumph and ultimate victory by two legends that have cemented their place in hip hop history. E.D.I. Don Breaks Down Lines from 2Pac’s “Hit ‘Em Up” [Video]

E.D.I. Don of The Outlawz spoke to VladTV exclusively about recording “Hit ‘Em Up” with the late Hussein Fatal, whom he says amped up 2Pac to go harder on the song after hearing his verse. The West Coast emcee also revealed that 2Pac didn’t really flip Biggie’s “Get Money” beat on the diss track because “Hit Em Up” was premeditated while Pac was in jail. Evidently, Pac told Faith about his plans, and she then went and shared it with Biggie; who was smart enough to use the same sample and release a record before Pac. Digging deeper into the recording experience for the song, E.D.I. Don spoke about the competitive spirit in the studio and how he took a battle rap approach to the track, including calling out Lil’ Cease. The Outlawz emcee explained that there was nothing personal between him and Cease when he recorded the track, and E.D.I. Don revealed that they sit and laugh about the verse today. Check out more of what he had to say in the above clip.

E.D.I. Don Remembers Hussein Fatal: “This Is A Big Blow” [Video]

The Outlawz and the rest of the hip-hop world lost an important member of our family Saturday evening when Hussein Fatal was killed in a tragic car crash. “He was well-loved so this is a big blow,” E.D.I. Mean tells us during this heartfelt exclusive. E.D.I. Don (also known as EDI Mean) had just performed with Fatal three weeks ago in Ohio, and had planned to see him this week as they were set to do a show in Germany. “I’m expecting to see my brother on Thursday, and he not gon’ be there,” he grievously states. Fatal was killed after his girlfriend Zanetta L. Yearby crashed her car near an exit on Interstate 85 in Gainseville, GA. Though Fatal was ejected from the car, Yearby “really didn’t have a scratch,” according to E.D.I. “She’s fine.” The couple were coming from Jersey, where Fatal had just buried his uncle. E.D.I. Mean says he received a call from Young Noble this past weekend, who was “in tears already” when he told him the fateful news. “I was on the way to the beach with my girl and the kids,” he remembers. “That was the end of my day right there.” He tells us Fatal’s sister later identified the body and confirmed the news, something he still can’t come to terms with. “When somebody dies like this it really don’t hit you right away,” he sadly states. “If you seen recent pictures of him he was in tip-top shape. He was on
